Meghan is available for writing workshops, editing workshops, publishing classes, and critique group power-ups. Below are topics she especially loves to teach.
NaNoWriMo for Kids
A six-week race to the finish for small groups of young writers. Presented by request only.
Creating a Sustainable Writing Practice
In this five-week writing/productivity workshop, Meghan will help you set goals and devise strategies that actually work for you — and keep you accountable for the commitments you make. You’ll write, read, and tackle the blocks to your creativity for five challenging, enlightening weeks.
Novel Revision 101: DIY and Collaborative Revision
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll draft a plan to get your novel from first draft to finished manuscript. Meghan will break down the stages of writing, revising, and editing, then teach you how to test each scene for POV, tone, and tension. She’ll help you know when to get help, where to find it, and what to expect from it. You’ll leave with an editing plan that starts with you and expands to include critique groups, professionals, and beta readers.
Publishing Paths 101: Traditional, Indie, and Hybrid
A three-hour intensive workshop for small groups of authors who are exploring their options.
Lecture: A concise, author-centered exploration of publishing options for authors who are at the outset or on the fence. Covers pros, cons, costs, and timelines for traditional publishing, self-publishing, and hybrid publishing and marketing paths.
Workshop: A facilitated roundtable discussion of the pros and cons of the publishing options.
Critique: Participants can submit publishing plans for critique that focuses on the author’s stated goals, desired timelines, and preferred budgets.
Book Description Blast
In this two-hour workshop, Meghan will teach you to write and revise your book description. This brief bit of copy is essential for online metadata, jacket copy, query letters, and pitches. She’ll help you get it tight, vibrant, and compelling, and teach you how to use it.
