She leads workshops on writing and publishing and belongs to the Editorial Freelancers Association, the Missouri Writers Guild, and Reedsy.

Matthew Arkin
Lead Story EditorMatthew Arkin brings a wealth of experience to his work as our lead story editor. His studies in literature, time as an attorney, and work as an actor developing new plays with some of the nation’s finest playwrights have refined his approach to story.
Matthew became immersed in the exploration of character, plot, and motivation when he began acting professionally at the age of eight. He holds a BA with honors in English from Wesleyan University and studied law at Fordham University.
In addition to teaching private acting classes and directing the Acting Intensive Program at South Coast Rep, Matthew teaches at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
Matthew’s passion for story is evident in his collaborations with our clients on mysteries and suspense thrillers, young adult fiction, sci-fi and fantasy, and love stories. He enjoys working with writers to figure out the story they’re trying to tell, then guiding them towards telling it well.
His first novel, the suspense/thriller In the Country of the Blind, has garnered considerable praise; check out the socially distanced story hour he hosted in the early days of COVID.
He is currently co-writing a book on the power of subtext in storytelling.

Rhonda Erb
Copy ChiefRhonda Erb is a writer, editor, and voracious reader who brings twenty years of experience to her role as copy chief for My Two Cents Editing, where she has executed eagle-eyed copyediting and proofreading since 2014. Rhonda’s discerning eye and dauntless pursuit of clear, concise, correct copy make her an invaluable editor and an incomparable wingwoman for authors and editors alike.
Rhonda has studied elementary education, nursing, sociology, and research methods for writers before gaining a reputation for excellent feedback from renowned indie publisher SkipJack Publishing. Delighted and inspired, she began to pursue a career in copyediting with equal parts passion and deliberation. She aced a professional copyediting class and sought a mentorship at My Two Cents, where her accuracy and kindness on the page were quickly recognized.
From horror to comedy to heaps of nonfiction, Rhonda’s reading interests are broad and deep. She loves to work on books that expand her horizons and give her reasons to exercise flexibility while following the rules.
Rhonda gives credit to her grandparents’ integrity and unconditional love for the pillars of her work ethic: truth, justice, and kindness. (She has yet to figure out how she didn’t make the cut for the Justice League.) She and her husband live in Amarillo, Texas, where their kids, grandkids, dogs and granddogs threaten to keep their house raucous and joyful around the clock — until it’s time for her to edit, and then everybody clears out.
